UTG consolidates its position by taking over the TOTAL tank farm in Kiel
Bremerhaven/Kiel – With effect from 1 January 2019, Unabhängige Tanklogistik GmbH (UTG), Bremerhaven will take over the tank farm in Kiel currently owned by TOTAL Deutschland GmbH, Berlin (TOTAL). This will significantly strengthen UTG’s position in the market for the storage and distribution of fuels in this region.
The TOTAL tank farm at Stadtparkweg 18 in Kiel has a capacity of approx. 35,000 cubic metres for the storage and transhipment of heating oil (EL) and diesel fuel. It has unloading facilities for ships and loading equipment for tank trucks. The current customers at the tank farm in Kiel, which also include TOTAL, will continue to have their products transhipped at this location after the takeover by UTG. The staff at the tank farm will transfer to UTG.
UTG already operates a tank farm in Kiel at Uferstrasse 48. As a neutral storage provider, UTG fulfils a regional supply function and cooperates with various transhipment partners from trade and industry at the Kiel location. Over the medium term, UTG plans to operate both tank farms in Kiel as one organisational unit.
